A man who threw a towbar on an indigenous woman in Thunder Bay was convicted of manslaughter in her death.

Justice Helen M. . According to Pierce, the Crown proved Brayden Bushby knew he was going to seriously injure Barbara Kentner when he threw the towbar on her from a moving car in January 2017.

Pierce says the Crown has also proven beyond doubt that Kentner’s injuries from the attack hastened her death, which occurred in July 2017.

The study was conducted by a forensic pathologist who testified that complications from an abdominal injury – caused by the attack – were the leading cause of Kentner’s death.

Bushby admitted throwing the towbar and pleaded guilty to serious assault but not guilty of manslaughter.
