Two of the three best picks in the 2016 NHL Draft were traded on Saturday after a blockbuster deal between Columbus and Winnipeg.
The Blue Jackets sent the angry center Pierre-Luc Dubois and a selection for, according to several reports the third round for the right wing Patrik Laine and the center Jack Roslovic to the Jets.
The change comes just 48 hours after Dubois was benched by former Rangers coach John Tortorella in overtime against the lightning bolt.
The 22-year-old French Canadian filed a deal with Columbus earlier this month after a lengthy negotiation process resulted in the restricted free agent signing a two-year deal worth $ 5 million.
Dubois, the former third overall winner, led Columbus last year with 18 goals and 31 assists and was the third overall winner in the 2016 draft.
But Dubois only scored one goal in the first five games and was effective at times poor, which resulted in him sitting on the bench on Thursday. He played less than four minutes, which was well below his average of 17 minutes per game.

The 22-year-old Laine has been the subject of trade rumors in recent years despite scoring an impressive 140 goals in 306 games.
The native of Finland was second choice in 2016 and is in the second year of a two-year contract worth $ 13.5 million.
