World news – Blind Channel wins UMK21 and will represent Finland in Rotterdam for Eurovision 2021

Finland held its national final show Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2021 (UMK21) to select its representative for Eurovision 2021. In a single two-hour show, seven artists will show very different contributions. Blind Channel was selected by a mixed vote of an international jury (25% of the vote) and the Finnish public (75% of the vote). The show did not have a live audience.

Blind Channel is a rock band formed in Oulu in 2013. The band defines their music with the term « violent pop », which the band has been using since its inception.

They have worked hard to achieve an international career with three studio albums and in February 2018 the band was nominated for Rock of the Year at the Finnish Emma Gala.

The band wrote « Dark Side » and channeled their frustration about canceled performances in 2020 due to Covid-19.

Blind Channel won both the jury vote and the televote through a major landslide and now has the ultimate chance to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam.
