After a moderate second day, the hosts kept control for most of the third day of the ongoing test between India and Australia in Sydney. The pair remained undefeated at the end of the day, helping Australia reach 103/2 in their second inning and taking the lead to 197 runs. Meanwhile, India’s suffering increased further than the wicketkeeper -Buttman Rishabh Pant was hit in the elbow after a good start. The blow left the 23-year-old in pain as he could not play freely and was therefore released. The left-handed batsman was discharged by Josh Hazlewood in 36 of 67 deliveries and was also taken to hospital for scans shortly afterwards. A similar fate met India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who injured himself on the left thumb of Mitchell Starcs Bowling. The spinner with the left arm ended the innings unbeaten on the 28th, but he also left the field for medical scans.
Pat Cummins emerged as the most successful bowler in the Australian camp when he finished the innings 4/29. While the spinners were without a wicket, Starc scalped one and Hazlewood scalped two.
Australia’s second inning started slowly when Will Pucovski, who scored well over half a century, failed to score well this time. He was removed by Mohammed Siraj on the 10th and Ashwin followed by holding David Warner LBW prisoner on the 13th.
However, both Smith and Labuschagne continued to show their boisterous form as they ran the scoreboard just below Four ticked.
