World News – AU – Should the Charlotte Hornets push the Kings into a deal for Marvin Bagley III?

Could the two sides be doing a deal if Malik Monk leaves the rotation in Charlotte and Marvin Bagley III is upset in Sacramento?

. .

While it is early in the season, an interesting trend has emerged in the Hornets rotation. Malik Monk, a player who was in his fourth year in the league and averaged 21 years old. 3 minutes per game last season, has not yet appeared in a competition this year.

During the preseason, Monk tested positive for coronavirus and missed most of the training camp and exhibition list. He returned for the last three preseason games, playing just over 34 minutes in total between those games.

However, at the beginning of the regular season, Monk was relegated to the bench. In the six games the Hornets have played, Monk has not seen a minute on the pitch. Head coach James Borrego has determined he is healthy, but play from the bench players namely LaMelo Ball, Cody Martin and Caleb Martin has forced him out of rotation.

It’s been a long case for Monk, ranked No.. 1 was selected. 11 total in the 2017 NBA draft and an average of 10. 3 points per game last season. It could be a slip on this season’s radar that has a lot to do in the months ahead and could see many more changes. But the fact that he is also in this situation speaks for how he is seen by the current coaching staff.

Monk still has value as he was successful in the league. But for a Hornets team with a thin apron, even before Cody Zeller was injured, is Monk’s greatest value to the team on the pitch?

This question has become more and more relevant in the last few days. On the other side of the country, the Sacramento Kings go through an almost annual circus. Marvin Bagley III, a former top pick pick, was in the midst of controversy after his father tweeted about the franchise to get him to trade. Bagley himself did little to aid his case by refusing to answer any questions on the matter afterwards. Things moved to another level on Sunday when Richaun Holmes and De’Aaron Fox’s parents got involved.

All of this comes as the Kings have an exciting start, going 3-3 with rookie Tyrese Haliburton. Bagley played in all six games, averaging 25 minutes a night as a starter at 11. 8 points and 8. 0 rebounds.

Could a deal between the two sides make sense since both the Hornets and Kings have unlucky young players? Charlotte’s gaping hole in the middle could be filled by Bagley, while a change of scene for Monk could give him a fresh start.

The deal would be more than a direct one-on-one deal with the Hornets, who need to tie up more either in the former draft capital or with young players. Charlotte doesn’t owe a round one selection, which allows them flexibility in running a deal.

Regardless of whether or not Monk is seen as expendable, Charlotte should oversee the situation at Bagley. As a young gamer who suits both the style of play and needs of the Hornets, it might be worth pulling the trigger.
