The commander of the Redfern Region Enforcement Squad, Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Bell, said investigators charged 137 people during the operation. This is the largest number of arrests in a phase of operation since the start of Strike Force Northrop in 2017.

« Our officials were again amazed at the insatiable demand for banned drugs across our community – especially after a year of testing for people in New South Wales and around the world, » said Det Ch Insp Bell.

« Over the past month, and with the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions, criminal companies using the dial-a-dealer method of supplying cocaine and other banned substances have grown significantly across Sydney.

« The police will claim that the majority of those responsible for deliveries are working on behalf of organized crime syndicates for financial gain. That money is then often channeled into other criminal activities and can cause significant damage in the community.

“Cocaine supply and demand is not just a police problem – it affects everyone in our society and is evident to those arrested as they come from all walks of life, including business professionals to the unemployed.

« It is alarming to have nearly 140 people charged in one operation, and it is disappointing that many of these people will start the New Year with a criminal record. ».

« We want everyone in New South Wales to have a safe and happy Christmas time, so the message remains the same – if you deal or use drugs you will be charged and brought to justice, » explains Det Ch Insp Bell said.

Since its inception in 2017, Strike Force Northrop investigators have charged 399 people with drug offenses, including 242 with supplies.

Investigators have seized more than 4 in the past three years. 1 kg cocaine, 490 g MDMA, 1. 1 kg of cannabis and more than $ 1. 12 million cash.

Anyone with information about the delivery of banned drugs is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https: // nsw. Crime fighters. com. ouch. Information is kept strictly confidential. The public is reminded not to report any information through NSW Police’s social media pages.
