The body of a 20-year-old man who disappeared overnight during a midnight swim with friends near Gympie was found after an hour-long search.
Police say the 20-year-old was in waist-deep water and was lit with spotlights near the group’s camp site along the Mary River when the rest of the group realized he was gone shortly after midnight.

His body was found 80 meters from where he was last seen swimming near Traveston Crossing and Dobson streets in Kybong, police said in a statement Friday afternoon.
Three rapid water rescue teams, as well as police divers, state rescue workers and the Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter participated in the extensive search operations.
Property owners in the area had been asked to look for the man. A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
