Australian clubs continue to fight in the AFC Champions League in Qatar, with Melbourne Victory being the latest victims.

The win was beaten 2-0 by Chinese side Beijing Guoan on Friday night, another defeat for the A-League teams currently on the continent.

In the six games between Victory, Sydney FC or Perth Glory in Qatar since the resumption of competition, the A-League teams have lost all six.

The last defeat of the win was the second in four nights against Beijing, which lead Group E with a perfect record of 12 points from four games.

In contrast, the Victory have only three points from their four games and their only joy was in February when they beat groupmates Chiangrai United 1-0 at AAMI Park.

The Victory rarely threatened their second straight defeat to Beijing, which took control from the start.

It took the Chinese Super League club just nine minutes to score. Spanish midfielder Jonathan Viera left Victory goalkeeper Max Crocombe, who was making his competitive debut for his new club, and was spot on when he made the most of a low cross from Wang Gang and some bad markings to find the back of the net.

Beijing doubled its lead in the 36th. Minute when Viera became the provider to set up Zhang Yuning, who defeated the offside trap of victory to hit the inside of the post.

The best chance for victory came 12 minutes into the second half when Storm Roux was thwarted from close range by Beijing goalkeeper Hou Sen.

Beijing’s Brazilian star attacker Renato Augusto was born in 66. Denied a deserved goal when his shot hit the crossbar.

But it didn’t matter much to the result as the Chinese giants made sure it was another disappointing night on the continental stage for an Australian team.
