Daryl Morey’s main task as the Philadelphia 76ers’ new president of basketball operations is to improve the lineup of a team that vastly underperformed last season. To do this, Morey could be looking to bring a familiar face, because Philadelphia should be interested in and sue Houston Rockets superstar guard James Harden, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania Other teams are also expected to be interested in Harden, but the Rockets are currently not shopping with the former league MVP.

Philadelphia’s potential interest in Harden isn’t particularly surprising given the history between Harden and Morey, but it is interesting as Morey made it clear during his introductory press conference with the Sixers that he wasn’t necessarily planning to breed the Houston cub ball style in Philadelphia

“We were trying to build the best team around our talents in Houston,” Morey said of the possibility of bringing the little ball style to Philadelphia. “But here Doc [Rivers] is going to use the talents that we have and use them to the best of their ability The goal is not to shoot three points The goal is to win You can score on the attack in different ways

“I think the best way to win in the NBA is to use your talent and figure out how to best use it,” added Morey “It’s not about taking your talent and shoving it into it. a particular system This is to try and get the most out of who you have « 

The pursuit of Harden from Philadelphia is also interesting because, in order to acquire a player of Harden’s caliber, the Sixers would likely have to part ways with one of their two young All-Stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons although Morey will certainly assess all options, he and Rivers have made it clear that they believe the Embiid and Simmons duo can win at the highest level.
