World news – Amazon’s Ring launches 3 new outdoor security devices

Thanks to the company’s new smart plug, motion light, and siren, the outside of your ring smart home may get a little smarter.

The smart home doesn’t have to end at the front door – at least that’s the news it is Ring seems to be broadcasting with the announcement of three new smart devices for the outdoors. The Amazon-owned company started taking pre-orders for three new devices this week: a smart outdoor plug, a motion-activated solar-powered outdoor light, and an outdoor siren that alerts homeowners and neighbors to potential intruders when connected to a ring alarm.

The Ring Outdoor Smart Plug creates two app-controlled smart outlets that can be used for outdoor devices such as lights.

The Ring Outdoor Smart Plug ($ 30) has two outdoor sockets that can each be controlled separately via the Ring app. You can turn the outlets on or off, create schedules, and sync with other ring devices like lights, doorbells, and cameras.

The Ring Wall Light Solar ($ 60) is a solar-powered, motion-sensitive 800 lumen wall sconce light that is to be mounted on an outside wall. It can also be connected to other ring devices using a separate bridge.

The ring alarm outdoor siren ($ 90, pictured earlier in this article) is a 9.25-inch light that has the blue stop sign logo is modeled after Ring and lights up and gives an audible warning when triggered by the ring alarm security system. It can either run on D-cell batteries or plugged into a wired power source including the ring solar panel.
