Amazon changed its new smartphone app logo after critics said the previous incarnation was a letdown for Adolf Hitler.
The e-commerce giant introduced the new icon in January to denote the Replace the icon of a shopping cart with an icon with a brown box with a jagged piece of blue tape over the company’s iconic smiling arrow.
« It’s not just a torn tape, it’s a torn tape that has a similar shape and lies directly on a smiling mouth. Looks to me like a happy little cardboard Adolf, « said one person on Twitter.
» The new app logo from Amazon looks like it is the THIRD ones were downloaded most frequently in the « Reich » section, « said another, referring to the Nazi regime.
Users also took note of Amazon’s optimization, where the blue ribbon looked like this folded.
« Lmao, I totally missed that Ama zon has quietly optimized its new symbol so that it … looks less like Hitler, « wrote one.
« Unsurprisingly, they haven’t sent out a press release to announce the second redesign, » remarked another.
« We designed the new icon to bring excitement, excitement, and joy when customers start their shopping trip with their phone, just like when they see our boxes on their doorstep, « said a company spokesman for the Post in an email.
The change to the shopping cart image was the first icon update from Amazon in more than five years.
