New South Wales investigators are treating the mysterious disappearance of a businesswoman from her cliff top house in Sydney’s eastern suburbs as suspicious.
Melissa Kadick left her Dover Heights home early Thursday morning last week and it is believed that she went for a run, but she did not take her wallet, keys, or cell phone.
Two days before her disappearance, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) raided her property on Wallangra Road as part of an ongoing investigation by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)..
Documents obtained by ABC reveal that the 49-year-old had recently received court orders preventing her from leaving Australia or selling any of her assets..
Detective Inspector Gretchen Atkins today urged anyone in the area to check out a CCTV or dashcam to help with the investigation.
“We have some serious concerns for her personal safety – she didn’t take any of her personal effects,” she said.
« She hasn’t been in contact with her husband, son, family, or any of her friends since then and we’re actually appealing to anyone who has seen anything.
Her husband, Anthony Coletti, remained calm when he faced the media today during a public call for information outside Bondi Police Station..
“Melissa is a dedicated and adorable mother, lovely daughter and a lovely sister and wife – we ask the community to help get Melissa home – that’s it,” he said, reading from a statement.
Mr. Coletti said he was asleep when his wife left their home at around 5:30 a.m. last Thursday..
“You know how much we love you; everything is taken care of – you’re not in trouble,” he said.
“There is nothing more I can offer you more – we just want it, that’s it.
The property was equipped with a security camera, but sources close to the investigation say it stopped working two days before Ms. Kadik’s disappearance..
Her older brother, Adam Grimley, was crying and choking as he read a statement as part of the public call for information.
“Melissa, please tell us you are fine and healthy, we love you – in our communities, we need your help to bring my little sister home,” he said.
Police have conducted air, sea and land searches, but the officers admit that they struggle to find any strong leads.
« If you’re Melissa, we really urge you to reach out to us and go home safely, » Inspector Atkins said..
