TAMPA – Aaron Hicks, whose girlfriend Cheyenne Woods is the niece of Tiger Woods, said the golfer’s family is primarily concerned with making sure he can lead a normal life after his serious car accident.
« I think right now we’re trying to make sure he gets well with whatever happens to the surgeries and stuff, » said the Yankees Center outfield player Thursday.
« It’s important to make sure right now that he can be a father again and have fun running around and playing with his kids. «
» I only met Tiger once, « said Hicks. « Cheyenne is a family member, so she wanted to make sure he was okay and everyone would want that. » Woods, 45, suffered a battered right leg and serious injuries in a rollover accident outside of Los Angeles on Tuesday on the right foot.
Doctors at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center described Woods’ « significant orthopedic injuries » in a statement released Tuesday following his emergency surgery.
According to medical experts, he has a long way to go to recovery, which includes lengthy physical therapy and further surgeries on his broken leg.
Hicks, who grew up playing golf in Southern California and who has chased some of Tiger Woods’ youth records, finished sixth in the Diamond Resort’s celebrity division -Tourist of Champions last month in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Cheyenne Woods was out for Hicks during the tournament.
