Kim Zolciak files for divorce from Kroy Biermann
Kim Zolciak, star of ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ has filed for divorce from her husband, former NFL player Kroy Biermann. The couple, who were married for 11 years and have four children together, separated on April 30. Zolciak cites irretrievable breakdown of the marriage as the reason for the divorce and is seeking primary physical custody of the children, joint legal custody, spousal support, and to legally restore her maiden name.
The divorce comes amid financial struggles for the couple, who owe $1.1 million to the IRS in unpaid taxes, interest, and penalties from 2013, 2017, and 2018. They also owe the state of Georgia $15,000 for unpaid taxes from 2018. In February, their massive country club mansion in Alpharetta, GA, entered foreclosure, though Zolciak’s daughters denied that their home was heading to the auction block.
The couple’s relationship and marriage
Zolciak and Biermann met at a charity event in May 2010, when he was playing with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. Their relationship was featured on ‘RHOA,’ and they tied the knot on Nov. 11, 2011, at their former estate in Roswell, GA. Biermann also adopted Zolciak’s daughters, Brielle and Ariana, who took his last name.
This is the second divorce for Zolciak, who was previously married to Daniel Toce from 2001 to 2003, and the first for Biermann. The couple’s divorce proceedings are ongoing, and it remains to be seen how their financial struggles will impact the outcome.
