Tim Oshie, former Warroad hockey coach and father of NHL star T.J. Oshie died.

Tim served both as a junior varsity trainer and as an assistant to the varsity team in Warroad. He also wrote stories in the Warroad Pioneer newspaper and appeared on local radio.
« It was a lot of fun, » said Cary Eades, the former head coach at Warroad. “His personality was very magnetic. He drew people to him. He was fun to be with and people loved him. »
T.J. has been active in raising awareness and fundraising to support advances in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
Tim was often at T.J.’s hockey games for both Warroad and UND. present. He routinely attended St. Louis Blues games according to T.J. turned pro, but travel has become more difficult in recent years.
Tim was in Las Vegas when the T.J. and the Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
« My dad is here in the crowd, » said T.J. said moments after winning the cup, fighting back tears. « He’s been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and he doesn’t remember a lot of things, but you can bet he will remember these. »
Tim returned with T.J. during their day with the Stanley Cup. They stopped at several well-known locations around the city including The Gardens, the city’s famous water tower, Main Street Bar and Grill, and Izzy’s Lounge, where Tim sang karaoke on the weekends.
« It’s a very emotional day, » Tim told the Herald, « with T.J. here and raise the trophy. »
Tim had lived in Everett, Washington, where he went to high school and where he played college basketball at Everett Community College. T.J. was also born in Everett. Before his sophomore year, T.J. moved to Warroad with Tim.
« It’s a sad deal and shows you how fragile life is, » said Eades. « He’s a good example, as T.J. said, of someone who lives life to the fullest and enjoys life. It’s a shame he cut it and leaves us way too soon. » Related articles
