Microsoft has released a new version of its Surface Pen for schools. The Classroom Pen 2 is half the price and harder to lose. The new Pen 2 is designed for use with Surface Go and Surface Pro and now corresponds to the regular Surface Pen with a silver finish.

The original Classroom Pen was designed to help students get started with digital coloring. It wasn’t sold individually, but as a bundle and was priced at $ 40 each. This is a significant saving compared to the $ 100 Surface Pen. It was also designed to be more durable and withstand the demands of the average classroom.

But now it is being redesigned. The Classroom Pen 2 swaps the black style for a silver aesthetic that better suits Microsoft’s Surface PC range. It’s also longer and easier to hold.

There is now a slot at the top that can either be used with a clip to attach to the surface type covers of a Surface Go or with a hand strap. The pen tip is now also interchangeable.

What hasn’t changed is functionality. Students can annotate and annotate and sketch in digital ink in their Microsoft apps. There are also two barrel buttons on the side with which the tip can be switched between erasing and coloring.

Unfortunately, for anyone who bypasses the Surface Pen and just wants to opt for one of these cheaper models, Microsoft only intends to sell them in multipacks. Schools and educational institutions get 20 for $ 399.80, which is $ 19.99 per Classroom Pen 2. The box also comes with batteries and replacement pen tips.
