CM – Exhausted nets recover with victory over pelicans

After taking a lead in Miami in the late fourth quarter on Sunday, the Nets managed to secure a much-needed win in New Orleans on Tuesday evening.

Just two days earlier, the heat ended the game too an 8-0 run to stun the nets. They looked shaky again on Tuesday, but this time they pinned their chins to take the pelicans’ best stroke and keep standing.

Kyrie Irving had a team high of 32 points and eight assists for the nets with only nine men played. They essentially played with just eight – and with Kevin Durant, James Harden and Nic Claxton – but they did just enough.

Joe Harris scored 24 points and Landry Shamet added 18 and eight assists. And Irving, who missed his last three glances at Sunday’s Heartbreaker in Miami, helped stabilize the nets (39-19) on the track.

After their 10-point lead was reduced to 124-122 , Irving’s 14-foot turnaround with 52.3 seconds of play gave them some breathing space. After the Pelicans’ Steven Adams inexplicably missed the second of two free throws by 44 seconds, Irving was cleared for a ground ride and layup that gave the Nets a five-point cushion.

That lead was on Cut 129-128, with Brandon Ingram remaining 11.4 on two free throws, but the nets did enough to hold up.

Zion Williamson had 33 points in 14 of 19 shots and Ingram added 27 points for New Orleans (25-33) added. But the depth of the nets was there, including security guard Bruce Brown who had 11 points, 11 boards at team level, and four steals.

« Sure. All of these guys have to play. All of these guys on the edge of rotation or just outside of rotation have to play, « said coach Steve Nash. » We have nine people available and one game [Wednesday] night so we’ll see. Hopefully we can get out of this game in one piece and move on to Tampa [Wednesday] ] Night and to the raptors. «

After the nets 8-5 led out of the gate, they allowed the pelicans 16 unanswered points. An Eric Bledsoe 3-pointer left the nets at 7:20 in the first quarter of 21- 8 behind him.

Nash walked to his bank and almost immediately after checking in, Brown set off an 11-2 batch, his theft resulting in a dunk from Jeff Green, who pulled the nets within 23-19.

Die Netze were still 65-63 behind in the third game and started en a 12-0 run. Irving managed to find Harris for a 3 who plumped her pillow to 75-65 at 7:30 in the third quarter.

The Pelicans hit 10 shots in a row to span the third and fourth periods, and the Nets fell back on Naji Marshall’s 3-hand just past 95-93 to open the fourth. But the nets got a 3 from Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and never followed again.

The nets led 114-107 at 5:42 and gave up a 6-0 mini-run that reduced their advantage to just one. But the nets themselves responded with six straight points.

A Harris layup followed by an Irving theft from Williamson and a Harris finger roll pushed him back to five. And after Irving forced an Ingram miss, Irving’s 10-foot pull-up made it 4:06 to the left to 120-113. The nets never followed after that.
