CM – Ex-home and away star among seven charged after raids

Police have charged seven men, including a former home and away star, with a range of criminal offenses after allegedly seizing cash and cocaine during a robbery.

Police have charged seven men with a range of criminal offenses after allegedly seizing cash and hundreds of grams of cocaine in cash and business robberies in northern New South Wales.

NSW police said in a statement that officials from the North Coast Region Enforcement Squad (RES) launched the Kelly and Tulipa strike force last October to distribute cocaine supplies in the Byron Bay, Mullumbimby and Bangalow areas examine.

Three men, all 30 years old, were arrested on property in Bangalow and one was charged with 17 offenses, including the continued supply of prohibited drugs and the supply of a prohibited quantity of prohibited drugs.

Police also arrested a 32-year-old man at a house in Mullumbimby. He was charged with 16 criminal offenses, including supplying prohibited drugs in commercial quantities and participating in a criminal organization.

The officers arrested a fifth man, 44, at a house in Mullumbimby and he was charged with 10 offenses, including the supply of prohibited drugs in commercial quantities and the knowingly direct activities of criminal groups.

A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with intending to use money / property, possessing prohibited drugs and possessing / attempting to prescribe a restricted substance as an instrument of crime.

Greg Thomas APM, North Area Operations Manager, Detective Acting Superintendent, said the arrests « would affect the availability of illicit drugs on the streets of Byron Bay. »

« The distant north coast is becoming increasingly popular with local tourists and it is our job to make sure that locals and visitors feel safe in our vacation towns, » he said.

« These arrests continue to disrupt the supply chain of cocaine and other illicit substances to the far north coast community, and we will continue to bring those who wish to import harmful substances to justice. »
