Now that we know there is still a Champions League, qualifying races like the one currently taking place in Germany are getting more and more fascinating. The multi-year qualifiers Borussia Dortmund have won the last three games and reduced the gap between them and third-placed Wolfsburg to five points. A defeat in this game would be a disaster for Dortmund (there are only three game days after this one), but a win would give them a huge boost.

Despite Wolfsburg’s usual solidity, I will strive for goals. Wolfsburg have scored four or more goals in four of their last six games, and those defeats to Frankfurt (4-3) and Bayern (3-2) were chaotic. Dortmund have to play up front and their attack is reinforced by the return of Jadon Sancho, who played Union Berlin in the final minutes of the midweek victory. The game also features two of the league’s best center-forwards. Wout Weghorst has scored 20 league goals for Wolfsburg, while Erling Haaland has scored 23 Bundesliga goals this season.
Dortmund’s defense is weakened by a suspension for central defender Mats Hummels, and more than 3.5 goals have been staked in eight of the last 13 league games. At 2.3411 / 8 that is the path we will take.
Eintracht Frankfurt, who was humiliated in a 4-0 defeat by Borussia Mönchengladbach, had to get back on their feet in the middle of the week and did just that you. I have to admit I’m skeptical about the appointment of Arminia- Frank Kramer was coach, but since replacing popular Uwe Neuhaus (popular with fans, but not his bosses), he has only lost two of his eight games. Arminia’s 1-0 midweek win over Schalke dropped the Royal Blues from the division and they are four points ahead of their last three points this weekend. Without the ball they are intense, and although he has only scored four goals in the league this season, captain Fabian Klos is an old-fashioned battering ram in the attack.
Gladbach led 2-0 in the middle of the week in Hoffenheim and broke to one 2-3 defeat together. Coach Marco Rose admits his team has physical problems and that is a big problem against an Arminia team that works so hard. The foals have only won two of their last five home games, and I’ll give visitors a one-goal start here at the Asian Handicap.
